Esther Gathigia Wanjau, HSC

Esther Gathigia Wanjau, HSC– Board Member of Regional Agency for International Development and Leadership – RAIDL. Esther is currently working as a Director of Information at the Directorate of Information in the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and the Digital Economy. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Management and Information Systems from Manchester University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Nairobi.

Esther started her career as a Computer Systems Officer in the Ministry of Finance and has over thirty-four (34) years of working experience in the Civil Service of Kenya in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Communication fields, fifteen (15) of which are at management and leadership levels.

She was in the team that developed the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Database(IPPD) which is a human resource system that cleanses personnel information to produce a clean payroll that is used by all the ministries and several government institutions in Kenya. Esther oversaw the establishment and operationalization of twenty-four (24) Information Resource Centers at the County and sub-county information offices to enable smooth transmission of news from the field offices to the headquarters.

She also worked at the Directorate of e-Government in the Office of the President, where her mandate was to articulate clearly the mandate of the Directorate especially in terms of the Government to Government (G2G) e-government services. These include; the Government Common Core Network (GCCN), which is the network cabling that connects all government offices through a Wide Area Network (WAN) that enables efficient internet connectivity, Government Data Centre, Integrated Payroll and PersonnelDatabase (IPPD, Integrated management system (IFMIS), County ConnectivityProject, registration information systems and all other automated government systems.

Esther brings a great blend of wisdom and experience to RAIDL and is committed to ensuring that as an Organization, we present the best not only to the donors and
partners world but also to the beneficiaries of our services who are our core objective in this regard. At the board level, Esther is committed to the teamwork and capacity
building of our management team in areas of transparency and accountability in service delivery.
