Geoffrey Ondong’a Onditi

Mr. Geoffrey Ondong’a Onditi is an award-winning journalist with more than 15 years of experience. Mr. Onditi is very passionate about Kenyan and African development. He has traversed Kenya and the African continent to highlight development in interest areas including; science, agriculture, gender and youth affairs, education, politics etc. Mr. Onditi has risen through the ranks to now being the Chief Producer for content Development in the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s (KBC) radio department which has over 21 radio stations and sub-services.

Mr. Onditi has been recognized locally and internationally for his journalistic achievements. In 2012, he was recognized as the best young producer in Africa in highlighting the role of the Youth in Agricultural productivity. He has also won many awards in Kenya and he was once recognized by KBC as its employee of the year.

Mr. Onditi has collaborated with many organizations including; learning institutions, research companies, county and national governments and others just to highlight various issues of the society. In 2018, he was part of a project on the role of data in enhancing agricultural productivity in the United States of America and Kenya. The project was facilitated by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Over the years, he has mentored many journalists who have gone on to have great careers of their own. He has been involved in training South Sudan national radio journalists on the tenets of journalism and especially in enhancing peace and security. He has also trained non-journalists, especially African scientists on communicating science in simple terms to various stakeholders.

Mr. Onditi has a mass communication diploma from the prestigious Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), and a bachelor's Degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi (UON). He is currently finalizing his master's degree in Communication Studies from the University of Nairobi.
